Source: Deutsche Bank not to change relations with Russia
LONDON, Aug 23 (PRIME) -- Deutsche Bank does not plan to change relations with the Russian government and its letter was only a standard formality, a banking source told PRIME on Thursday.
Business daily Vedomosti reported earlier citing the bank’s June 27 letter that Deutsche Bank’s London branch asked the Russian government to renew client information provided to the bank and threatened to break off business relations otherwise. The bank analyzes services provided to the Russian government and its documents under the Know your customer practice.
The source said this standard poll will have no impact on Deutsche Bank’s interaction with Russia.
“This survey does not imply taking any measures against Russia, which will remain one of strategic markets for the bank. Nothing has changed. This was a formal poll,” the source said, adding that the bank sends such letters to all its clients.
